Chairperson of the Board of Directors: Motau Thabiso Andrew Baloyi
Mr. Baloyi has been chairperson for ADAPT’s Board of Directors for nine years. He has a Bcom degree from the University of Limpopo, MAP from Wits Business School, Business Executive Coaching Certificate from Wits Business School, and MBA from Manchester Business School (UK). He has 32 years experience in Retail Banking.
Secretary of the Board of Directors: Phindile Xaba
Ms. Xaba has a BA honors degree in Media Studies and Journalism from Wits University, Executive Qualification in Journalism from GIBS and currently studying for a Masters degree in Media Convergence with Atlantic International University in USA. Ms. Xaba has been a journalist for eighteen years. She has experience in print, broadcast and social media. She is currently a brand content and placement consultant and she is also editor of Teacher, a Mail and Guardian Publication.
Treasurer of the Board of Directors: Catherine Moyase Mvelase.
Ms. Mvelase has a Master’s degree in financial Economics. She was a professional nurse for 22 years. She is currently the Chief Director at the Gauteng Department of Economic Development – BEE manager. Ms. Mvelase has ten 10 years experience in Organisational Management and five years in financial management.
Board Member: Portia Mthembu
Ms. Mthembu has a BA honors degree in Social Work from the University of Limpopo, a Masters degree in Social Sciences Community Development from the University of Johannesburg and currently studying for a Doctorate in Social Sciences with UNISA. Ms. Mthembu has 15 years’ experience in Community Work Planning and Development. She is currently employed as Social Work Policy Manager by the National Department of Social Development. She has developed and facilitated national strategies and guidelines on working with orphans and vulnerable children.
Board Member: Fikile Buthelezi
Ms. Buthelezi has a B Ed degree and University Education Diploma, a Diploma in Human Resources, Training and Development, Diploma in Special Education and a Certificate in the Fundamentals of Real Estate in South Africa. Ms. Buthelezi has experience in teaching, human resource management, Micro lending and Corporate Social Investment. She was a human resources Manager at the Women Development Banking for five years. She is currently one of the Directors at the Diamond Cutting Works.
Board Member: Mmeli Motsepe
Advocate Motsepe has LLB degree from the University of the North, Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Leadership Development (Wits Business School), Integrated Management Course (Primeserv), Diversity Management and Emotional Intelligence (University of North West), Spiritual Quotient for leadership (Vendatta Training-MK Angajan), Performance Management-Dynamic Seminars (Dr B Jude and Associates), Project Management (Crane field College).
Mr. Motsepe started his career as a candidate attorney at the Soweto Legal Aid Board as a candidate attorney form 2000 –2011 and as Professional Assistant from 2011 to 2005. His main responsibility was then provision of legal representation to the indigent at Magistrates (District and Regional). He is currently employed as Justice Centre Executive. He manages the functioning and administration of the justice centre.
The Chief Executive Officer: Irene Khumalo
Ms. Khumalo has BA Social Work degree from the University of Limpopo, BA honors in Social Work from the University of Zululand, MA degree in Social Sciences (Community Development) from the University Of Johannesburg former RAU and NGO management course offered by the International Visitors Program (USA). She has project management skills, facilitation skills, fund raising skills to name but a few.
Mrs. Khumalo practiced as a social worker for more than 10 years, in the Limpopo Province. She joined ADAPT in 1998. She was first employed as a Senior Social Worker for six months then appointed Deputy Director for two years. She was appointed Chief Executive Officer of ADAPT in 2001 the position she holds to date.
